Cadence McShane Construction Company was honored with the Project Achievement Award in the Buildings, New Construction: Constructed Values Less Than $25 Million category by the CMAA of North Texas for Washington Heights Elementary School. The project included providing a 60,000-square-foot, two-story above ground replacement school that was constructed on the same site as the existing below ground elementary school. After the replacement school was completed, demolition and removal of the original school’s gym, auditorium, and above ground elements commenced. Once this demolition and foundation work was complete, the land was used for a new playground. Construction of the new facility occurred during the school year while students attended school in the original underground building. Cadence McShane provided coordination and planning to control site accessibility, dust and noise control, as well as safety concerns.
