Cadence McShane received an ASA North Texas Award for their modernization of Hughes Middle School in Burleson, Texas. Originally constructed in 1970, Cadence McShane transformed 165,000 square feet, including 54 classrooms, a new cafeteria with a commercial kitchen, an open concept library, and newly added lab and visual arts spaces. The building also incorporates new collaborative areas that emphasize a flexible and communal style of education where students can gather for one-on-one or small group learning. The firm also performed a full renovation of the gymnasium and a 10,000-square-foot addition to the fine arts wing, adding space to the offices, band hall, choir room, and practice rooms.
