Cadence McShane Construction Company was awarded the CMAA North Texas Project Achievement Award for Red Oak ISD’s Shields Elementary School reconstruction project in Red Oak, Texas. Special recognition was given to this project because in an emergency response to a tornado that struck and damaged Shields Elementary School on December 26, 2015. Cadence McShane was called to repair and rebuild the existing, 82,084 square-foot facility. Due to the tornado, exterior walls and the entire roof system at the elementary school had to be reconstructed. Approximately 90% of the windows and storefront doors had new protective window film applied in case of another tornado. In the interior of the school, the sheetrock was stripped off and exposing all the metal studs. Cadence McShane completed the entire project in 7 ½ months, allowing the school to re-open for the next school year.
