Will Hodges, President of Cadence McShane Construction Company, is pleased to announce that work has begun on the new 194,000-square-foot Lowell H. Strike Middle School for Little Elm Independent School District (Little Elm ISD). The project began with an official groundbreaking ceremony hosted by the district on February 4th. Keynote speakers at the event included Little Elm ISD’s Superintendent Daniel Gallagher, Little Elm ISD Board of Trustees President Melissa Myers, Matthew Southwest’s Kristian Teleki, and Mayor Pro Tem of The Colony David Terre.
Strike Middle School will be built in The Tribute, a master-planned residential community on the shores of Lake Lewisville in The Colony, Texas. The two-story facility will accommodate 1,200 students in a flexible design that gives teachers the ability to adapt spaces based on the students’ learning needs. The opening of Strike Middle School will also help alleviate the nearby Prestwick STEM Academy, which currently serves kindergarten through eighth grade students.
“It is such an exciting time for our community,” says Daniel Gallagher, superintendent for Little Elm ISD. “This all started when a Long Range Facilities Planning Committee came together to put a comprehensive facility needs plan together that included the construction of a new middle school.”
The school is named after Dr. Lowell H. Strike, Little Elm ISD’s former superintendent. With decades of experience as an educator, Dr. Strike served as superintendent for the school district from 2015 until his retirement in 2017. Little Elm ISD’s mission is to “Engage, Equip, and Empower” and Dr. Strike is remembered for doing just that during his time as superintendent.
