Douglas Otto Middle School
Cadence McShane Construction Company was selected as construction manager at risk for Douglas Otto Middle School, a 153,400-square-foot educational facility located in Plano, Texas. The school was named after Dr. Douglas Otto, a previous Superintendent of Plano Independent School District.
The construction of the two-story middle school features a two-toned brick and cast stone exterior and includes 63 classrooms, eight science labs, a music room, competition and practice gymnasiums, a cafeteria, a library, administration facilities and dedicated space for special education and guidance counseling. The main street corridors had rhythmic patterns with column pilasters dimensionally coordinating with ceramic floor tile which, in turn, coordinated with wall tile, a cast stone water table along with bulkheads and ceilings. Outside construction on Douglas Otto Middle School included the completion of two athletic practice fields, four fenced tennis courts and a 133-vehicle surface parking lot.
